Phillip W. Wright was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Hagerstown, Maryland. Phil attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County where, in 1985, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management. Phil then earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1988. While in law school, he was honored as one of two students selected to serve on the National Trial Advocacy Team, was elected as one of only twenty-five members of the Moot Court Board and served as a chief judge for the Moot Court competition.Upon graduation from law school, Phil entered private practice with a firm in downtown Baltimore, opened his own firm in 1993, and merged that practice into this firm in 2001. His practice areas include personal injury, workers’ compensation, criminal law, traffic/dui/dwi matters, motor vehicle license hearings, medical malpractice, general civil litigation and family law matters. Phil was admitted to practice law in Maryland by the Court of Appeals in 1988, was subsequently admitted to the United States District Court in 1989, and to the Supreme Court of the United States in 2004. He has appeared on behalf of clients throughout every jurisdiction in Maryland, regularly practices in both the District and Circuit Courts, and has successfully argued appellate matters before the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland.Phil has been appointed and serves as a Settlement Master for the Circuit Court of Carroll County and does pro bono work through the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service. He is either a current or former member of the Carroll County Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. Phil is married and he and his wife have a son and a daughter. He and his family are members of Grace Lutheran Church here in Westminster.
